Common uses: With the Self Test Mineral & Toxic element test kit, you will get accurate results for the following eight minerals: Calcium, Chromium, Copper, Magnesium, Manganese, Selenium, Iron (hair) and Zinc. Instructions: How to take the sample. For best results wash hair with Johnsons No more tears Baby Shampoo for 7 days in a row, before taking the hair sample. Do not take a sample of hair if you have bleached, permed or dyed your hair within 6-8 weeks. On the day of the sample taking, do not use any hair care products that could alter or taint your sample, apart from the No more tears shampoo. Pin long hair back and separate sections at the back of the head. You need to take about 7 thin hair samples, cut as close to the scalp as possible. Cut each sample approximately 2.5cm to 4cm from the proximal or root end of the hair and discard the distal or tip end of the hair sample. Please be aware that only the hair closest to the scalp is useful for hair analysis. Do not send the straggly distal end of the hair sample. If using thinning shears, place these next to the scalp to collect your sample. Pubic hair can be used, if there is no alternative; however this needs to be new growth, not old. Once you have cut your sample, put a pencil on the table and then place the card (provided in the test kit box) on the pencil, as shown on the card. This card is now your measure, to ensure you send in enough hair for your test. Place your hair in the area as specified on the card. When the card tips up, your sample size is adequate - .5grams. Fill your details in on the card provided and put your hair sample into the plastic bag provided and post in the provided envelope.  Once the laboratory recieves the test, it takes approx. 3 weeks for the results to be returned to you.
